Day 10 - Old Town Montreal!

Another absolutely fabulous day! Woke up to steaming hot sunshine, but then a few clouds rolled in to provide a comfortably hot day!😀
After getting my act together I took off for Old Town Montreal! I started at the Notre-Dame Basilica Cathedral and was completely awe struck! It was absolutely beautiful! It was 3 years in building and was built between 1888-1891.

The Confessional lined all the walls! I'm sure there were at least 10 of them!

The saddest part was the gazillions of candles people had paid a dollar to light and pray to a Jesus still hanging on a cross!
As amazingly beautiful the architecture and artwork were, it was so dark and somber...such a difference from our faith!

The outside...

All these horse-drawn carriages were waiting to take you on a tour of Old Montreal...for a large fee! Lol!

After a bite of lunch I headed down to the Old Port Clock Tower. I absolutely loved this whole area! I was able to rent a bike for $1 for the whole day! So I spent 3-4 hours biking around and seeing all the sights! It was such a relaxing, enjoyable day!
Lovely, paved bike trails ran all along the St.Lawrence River and thru the city!

The Old Port Clock Tower was really neat! It has an interesting history behind it which I can't remember all of at the moment!

On the backside of the tower is this beautiful man-made beach and the river beyond it! So pretty!

Ooooh! And I discovered Scuffy the Tugboat is still alive and well! Although it appears he may have changed his name...

There were so many amazing old buildings and beautiful architecture! I totally fell in love with this part of the city!

I absolutely loved these pedestrian only streets full of souvenir shops, restaurants and bars! Apparently I was t the only one because they were jam packed!!

There was also this super cool strip of shops made out of old train car containers!

And of course you cannot go to Quebec without having their famous Poutine! I got mine from a food truck...Montreal Smoked Meat Poutine! I was stuffed afterwards, but it was sooo yummy!
